Think About It

There's a reason that there are verses in the Bible that you have heard over and over. These are the verses that God uses so obviously to change our perspective and ultimately our lives. So why do these verses loose their impact? I think the answer is easy, we just hear them so much that we stop thinking about them.

Today I was reading through Philippians 2 and verse 3 just jumped out and kicked me in the face. "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves."

I've heard it countless times, but Paul's challenge screamed at me. Just as Christ humbled himself, even to death on a cross, we are called to think of others before ourselves. Can you imagine what it would look like if we all allowed the spirit to do this work in our lives, and if we all thought of others as better then ourselves? Sounds lofty, and impossible, but it is our call, it is what it means to give your life to Christ.
